Photo and sound bird identification
Learn to identify the birds around you, at your own pace.
Quiz yourself on the species in your region, by photo and by song.
Miss one, and you see it next to the bird you confused it for, so the difference sticks.

How it works
Three steps, then you are watching
Pick a place
Choose your location or browse any region in the world. The quiz draws from the species actually recorded there on eBird.
Identify by photo or sound
Name the bird from a clear photo, a recorded song, or a mix of both. Four choices, drawn from species you could plausibly confuse.
Review your weak spots
Misses come back on a spaced schedule, so the birds you struggle with get the practice and the easy ones fade back.
The method
A schedule built around what you forget
Field identification is two skills: knowing a bird by sight, and knowing it by ear. The quiz trains both, and treats a song the same way it treats a photo.
Sign in, and every answer feeds a spaced repetition schedule. Birds you keep missing return sooner. The ones you know return later. Your review queue stays short and pointed.

See it and hear it
Crisp photos and clean recordings, credited to the people who contributed them.
Learn from the miss
A wrong answer opens a side by side comparison of the two birds, not just a red cross.
Practice what counts
Spaced reviews keep your time on the species that need it.
Why this exists
For people who keep meaning to start
Birdwatching often gets put off, waiting on the gear, the trip, and the free weekend that never quite arrives.
Fledgling is the version that fits a normal life. Learn the birds around you, by sight and by sound, and start noticing them on the walks you already take.
Built on open data
Regional species lists and taxonomy come from eBird, photos from iNaturalist, and recordings from xeno-canto. All used under their educational and non commercial terms, credited per item.
